Sports, Socks, Spirit Fingers, Style and Speed

Looking for memorable holiday gifts to give this season? Take a look at the following suggestions from local retailers.

Hands Down

The Spotted Pig boutique features beautifully unique accessories, gifts, furniture and home decor for what its team calls “free spirits and rustic bohemian souls.” Catering to both fashion seekers and art lovers, the store provides striking gifts.

For this winter, the Spotted Pig owner Kristin Mayer recommends fingerless hand-warmers she says are both stunning and cozy. They are made with wool and rabbit fur and have side slits for thumbs.

These hand-warmers are available in different colors. They come in one size and sell for $30.

In addition to regular operational hours, the store will be open for holiday shopping on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Show Team Spirit

Matt Moore, owner of World Outdoor Emporium, is ready to provide a fun gift that helps people cheer on their favorite sports team through officially licensed, one-of-a-kind tiki totems.

He says the totems are perfect for gardens, tailgate parties or man caves!

Sculpted from polystone, each totem is hand-painted and features detailed wood-carving designs and logo decal applications. The totems are made with an outdoor-safe design for season-round enjoyment.

From the mascot top to the player base, Matt says these figurines make quite a statement and are very popular. He has a totem for University of Missouri-Columbia fans, complete with Truman the Tiger, as well as ones for St. Louis Blues hockey fans and avid Cardinals Nation enthusiasts. The totems sell for $29.99.

Additionally, WOE carries landscaping products from fountains, birdbaths, pond supplies, edgings, decorative gravel, erosion control items and concrete statuaries.

Give Authentic Luxury

From jewelry, purses, clothing, belts, shoes and other accessories, the Vault Luxury Resale boutique in Brentwood is a place from which to secure plush gifts that also help community causes. All items sold are clean and in excellent condition, likely less than 2 years old. Clothes are designer labels and items from department stores and boutiques.

A unique gift recommendation provided at the shop would be prayer box necklaces, for which recipients whisper into or write down intentions to place in the small necklace locket, which is worn close to one’s heart.

Boutique founder and CEO Sue McCarthy says they focus as much as they can on locally made products, with examples being the Tru Candle Studio line. These candles are hand-poured soy candles in gorgeous vessels.

Sue and her daughters were the stars of Resale Royalty, a popular reality TV series produced by celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe that aired on the Style Network in 2013. Sue pioneered the upscale resale business model and launched the Women’s Closet Exchange in 1991.

For more holiday gifts, Sue also recommends artisan and all-natural SammySoap skincare items and products from the Duke Cannon men’s line that donates a portion of proceeds to U.S. veterans. She says they also have new men’s socks that are fun.

The Vault provides a way for Sue and her team to help community initiatives for the homeless and those facing dire healthcare issues, such as cancer, leukemia, lymphoma and Alzheimer’s. During October, the boutique provided $20,000 to Operation Food Search, and altogether they’ve donated nearly $200,000 to nonprofit organizations.

This year, Sue serves as chair of the Salvation Army’s Tree of Lights campaign.

“We’re a small business that gives back in big ways because we want to!” Sue says.

Interior Design Gifts that Last

Macy Helm, design intern and marketing specialist at Home Elements Design Studio in Chesterfield, recommends giving black kitchen accessories, such as teapots, stools, chairs or decorative storage containers for this year’s high-contrast, sophisticated looks. She also says giving a practical yet thoughtful gift such as new light fixtures can brighten recipients’ daily lives.

Sadie Smith, senior kitchen and bath designer at Home Elements, says they can assist with making gift selections among leading brands.

Drive It Home

Joe Wolk, general manager of Mercedes-Benz of Chesterfield, believes a nice, shiny (maybe red) object is the perfect holiday gift for the perfect holiday season: a Mercedes GLE! It even has noticeable athleticism through its advanced power options and agile handling. It also features industry-leading safety systems as well as advanced, user-friendly technologies.

Think about giving luxury and adventure to someone special through this new dealership whose crew’s commitment to customer satisfaction is second to none.
