CHESTERFIELD SEEKING ARTISTS TO SUBMIT IN PUBLIC ART COMPETITION FOR CENTRAL PARK

Chesterfield Parks, Recreation & Arts is sponsoring a Public Art Competition to design and construct an outdoor, site-specific installation for prominent display in one of the public parks in Chesterfield. This sculpture will be outdoors and installed in the spring of 2017. Whimsical, nature-inspired designs, as demonstrated by our current installations in Chesterfield’s Central Park, are encouraged. Designs are being sought that highlight the potential of public art, and the visual arts in general, to contribute to intellectual conversations and community pride in Chesterfield and beyond.  December 1 is the registration deadline for request for proposal submissions – a maximum of five selected artists will be paid $250 for RFPs. The announcement of the winning design is set for Dec. 15, and installation will be in April of 2017.  The city of Chesterfield will provide up to $18,000 to the successful artist to fund the actual construction of the artwork.
