Schlafly Beer offers a beer vacation destination every fall with its annual HOP in the City festival at the Tap Room location (2100 Locust St., St. Louis, MO 63103). This year’s event is bigger and better than ever before with more than 50 beers, national bands such as White Denim and Calexico and now a beer oasis with the Hop Hotel Rooms. With features from brews chilling in the sink to beer-scented soap, the specialty suites are available for the festival on Saturday, Sept. 17. Package rates start at $175, a more than $500 value.

The largest locally owned and independent craft brewery in St. Louis partnered with St. Louis-based hospitality leader Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM) to create the suds-inspired rooms at two of the group’s hotel properties, St. Louis Union Station Hotel by DoubleTree and The Cheshire.

Guests are greeted by beer and food pairings from Cheshire’s Executive Chef Rex Hale like smoked pork ribs with gochujang, pickled radish and local berries paired with Schlafly Expo IPA, an exclusive release in St. Louis. The suites also include beer books for bedside reading, Schlafly swag for attending the HOP in the City festival, a growler of the exclusive HOP in the City beer, bottled beers on ice in the sink, a Schlafly robe and more. Schlafly also worked with sammysoap, a St. Louis company, to offer handmade beer-scented soaps based on Schlafly’s beer styles. The company creates all-natural, small batch soaps bars and supports employment of adults with disabilities.
Schlafly’s Ambassador Brewer Stephen Hale explains, “There’s something beer-related everywhere you turn in the rooms. We wanted to encourage travelers to make St. Louis a destination for HOP in the City, and there’s no greater way to do that than partner with LHM’s hotels.”

LHM’s Todd Hotaling states, “We are a St. Louis company and very proud of the beer culture here and what it offers enthusiasts from around the globe. We’re excited to partner with Schlafly, and provide guests with an award winning hotel experience, complimented with amenities from the pioneer of the craft beer scene.”

The HOP Hotel Rooms include the following amenities:

Missouri Baseball Team Wins the 2016 “Play The Turf” Elite All-Star Showcase Championship

The 12U Missouri All-Stars coached by Matt Culberson, Josh Markert and Joe Lopez swept their way through the Elite All-Star Showcase at Lenz Field in Jacksonville, IL , competing against All-Star teams from around the Midwest.  The Missouri team put up 74 runs and only allowed 15 during their six wins at the tournament, mercy ruling their opponents in four of them.  The team is made up of boys from seven different traveling club teams around the St. Louis area.  Some of the players have competed in this event for each of the last four years while some took the field for the first time.

The team is 15-2 in three seasons with Coach Culberson, but close losses in previous years have led them to come up just short of victory. They finished strong this year, however, beating a strong Illinois team in the championship game 11-4.
